Bernard Scrivener was a force in Burlington. His mensware store was the FIRST shop in the Village Square, he helped organize Christmas lights in Spencer Smith Park, and his name has been hung across from city hall for years. Oh, and he went on a fishing trip with Gordon Lightfoot.

Today, I had the honour of attending BurlingtonToday's inaugural Community Builder's Awards, lunch and award ceremony at Paradiso downtown. Wow! I think it was a beautiful occasion as we celebrated over a delicious lunch. Stay tuned for photos and stories on award recipients. For this newsroom, it was a rare occasion for us to get dressed up and enjoy a sit-down meal in a fancy restaurant. Oh, and I also got a few more story ideas....
